THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS & CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

Nestled at the eastern base of the Santa Cruz Mountains, Los Gatos is one of the most desirable residential and retail locations in Northern California. The town is a successful blend of premier homes, upscale stores, exciting restaurants, and splendid parks. Blessed with a moderate year-round climate, Los Gatos is lush with trees and well-kept gardens and more than lives up to its maxim as the "Gem of the Foothills".

COMMUNITY EVENTS AND TRADITIONS:

Fiesta De Artes - An outdoor venue for artisans, merchants, and entertainers held annually in August in the Town Civic Center.

Music in the Park - An outdoor summer concert series on Sunday afternoons from late June through late August with performers of various musical styles, held on the Civic Center lawn.

Jazz on the Plaza - Enjoy free Jazz performances every Wednesday evening 6:00 to 8:00pm in the Town Plaza from July 30 through September 3.

Shakespeare in the Park - Nightly performances of plays by the great bard in Oak Meadow Park on weekends in July.

The 4th of July - Los Gatos says "Happy Birthday America" with a town picnic, band concert, cake and ice cream social, and twilight dance; "The 1812 Overture" is performed on the Los Gatos High School lawn.

Film Festival - A tradition in the making, the Los Gatos Film Festival shows free outdoor family films in Oak Meadow Park in late summer and continues with first run films at the historic Los Gatos Cinema.

Races and Runs - Several of these events take place annually in town and include: The Great Race from Saratoga to Los Gatos (4 miles), held in February; The Dammit Run from Los Gatos to Lexington Dam (5 miles), in August.

Haunted Forest - A spooky train ride through Oak Meadow Park and Lake Vasona County Park on the Billy Jones Wildcat Railroad in October. Perfect for young children.

Holiday Tree Lighting, Children's Parade, and Horse-Drawn Carriage Rides - The Town of Los Gatos celebrates the holiday season with warmth and old-fashion charm. On the first Friday night of December, the town's Christmas Tree in the plaza is lit and the community is invited to sing traditional holiday carols. Santa Claus makes an appearance and gives away candy to happy children. The first Saturday of December the town holds its Children's Holiday Parade with much fanfare featuring marching bands, an equestrian parade, decorative floats, and local highjinks. Carriage Rides through the streets of Los Gatos take place in the evenings in this period, Thursdays through Sundays. Reservations advised.

Christmas in the Park - Drive your car through a fabulous display of Holiday Lights in Lake Vasona County Park in late November and December. Fee required.

Farmers' Market - A lively outdoor market held every Sunday throughout the year in the Town Plaza. A great place to sample and purchase local produce and specialty foods.
