foothills above Saratoga, Villa Montalvo is a Mediterranean
villa built in 1912 by Senator James D. Phelan and given to
the people of California for use as a center for the arts. It
is best known for its year-round performing arts series featuring
classical music, jazz, blues, country, rock and pop. The 175
acre estate is comprised of an intimate indoor and outdoor theater,
villa, live/work research center for artists, gallery, hiking
trails, and expansive garden. The incomparable Montalvo Performances
always attract star entertainers and dazzle audiences annually.

in 1852, serves as a dramatic backdrop for top performers and
